Explore Morocco on a 7-Day Itinerary

This itinerary is designed to give you time to explore Fes before heading south through mountains,

dunes, gorges, and kasbah towns, ending in Marrakech.

Day 1: Fes (Arrival)

Arrival in Fes. Welcome and transfer from the airport to your riad. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2: Fes (Full Day of Discovery)

Spend the day exploring Fes. Visit Al Quaraouiyine University, known for its long academic history, and continue to the Nejjarine Museum of Wood Arts and Crafts, set in a restored caravanserai. See Bab Bou Jeloud, a well-known gate and landmark in the city.

Return to your riad to rest after a full day in the medina.

Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)

Depart Fes toward the Sahara with stops in Ifrane (known for its European-style architecture) and Azrou, where cedar forests and Barbary macaque monkeys can be seen. After lunch in Midelt, continue through the palm groves of the Ziz Valley and the Erfoud area before reaching Merzouga.

At the end of the day, enjoy a sunset camel ride in the dunes of Erg Chebbi, followed by an overnight stay in a desert camp under the stars.

Day 4: Merzouga Desert (Sahara Day)

This day is dedicated to the Sahara. Begin with sunrise in the dunes, then visit a local Berber family for tea and to learn about traditional daily life. In the evening, enjoy dinner at the desert camp, with music and stargazing.

Overnight: Merzouga Sahara Desert

Day 5: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Leave Merzouga and travel toward the Todra Gorges, a canyon known for its rock walls and walking routes. After time in the gorges, continue to the Dades Valley, known for rock formations and kasbah landscapes.

Enjoy dinner and a quiet night in Dades Valley.

Day 6: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou

Travel to Ouarzazate, known for its film history. Visit Kasbah Taourirt, and if interested, visit Atlas Studios. Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site with mudbrick architecture. Enjoy lunch and explore the site.

Dinner and overnight stay in Ouarzazate.

Day 7: Ouarzazate – Tizi n’Tichka Pass – Marrakech

Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with panoramic viewpoints along the road. Arrive in Marrakech and drop off at your accommodation.
