Cross the High Atlas Mountains, visit the UNESCO-listed kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, and travel through gorges and valleys before reaching Merzouga. Along the way, discover places like Ouarzazate, Dades Gorge, Todra Gorge, Erfoud, and Rissani. The tour includes a desert excursion in Merzouga and a camel ride at sunset to your desert camp.

This 4-day desert tour starts early in the morning. You meet your guide at your hotel/riad and begin driving from Marrakech toward Ait Ben Haddou, passing through the High Atlas Mountains and the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m).
We arrive at the UNESCO site Ait Ben Haddou, where you will visit the kasbah on a walking tour and have lunch before continuing toward Dades Gorge.
After breakfast, we continue our journey toward the Sahara. Here, both the Todra and Dades rivers have carved cliff-sided canyons through the mountains. The Todra Gorge is known for its final stretch of canyon walls, creating one of the most striking natural landscapes in the region.
We stop for a walk with your guide. Lunch is scheduled in Tinejdad, then we continue to Erfoud.
Erfoud is the gate of the desert and used to be the base camp for expeditions through the Merzouga dunes. Erfoud is also well known for fossils dating back hundreds of millions of years. The souk sells local dates and fresh products, and in October the town hosts a date festival with music and dancing.
Before reaching the dunes, we stop in Rissani, the origin of the Alaouite dynasty (Morocco’s current royal family). Rissani is known for early Moroccan architecture and noteworthy sites such as Ksar Oulad Abdelhalim and Ksar Aber.
After Rissani, we arrive at Merzouga. Relax at the hotel after a long day, have dinner, sleep comfortably, and get ready for tomorrow’s desert experience.

In the morning, after breakfast at the hotel, we meet our 4x4 driver for a desert exploration tour across the Moroccan Sahara.
We visit local Amazigh nomads to learn about their traditional lifestyle and how they adapt to the desert environment. Afterward, we head to the old M’Fis mines, dating back to the French colonial period, and stop for a panoramic view of the dunes from a nearby hill.
We then continue to the village of Khamlia to enjoy a traditional Gnawa music performance, followed by a local lunch.
In the afternoon, we return to the hotel for relaxation. Optional activities may be available, such as sandboarding, quad biking, or buggy rides.
Before sunset, we prepare for a camel ride to the desert camp. You’ll watch the sunset over the dunes, then arrive at camp for a traditional dinner, a desert music evening under the stars, and an overnight stay in a comfortable desert camp.
In the morning, it is highly recommended to wake up early and climb the dunes to witness sunrise. After breakfast, meet your tour guide to begin the journey toward Kelaat M’Gouna for lunch.
In the afternoon, we continue with a visit to the film studios in Ouarzazate if you wish. Afterwards, drive to Marrakech.
